In 2021, MTA Lines transitioned to full employee ownership. This empowers our team and reinforces our commitment to delivering first-class solutions to our clients. As stakeholders, every member of our team is deeply invested in ensuring the success of our clients and the growth of MTA Lines.
MILESTONES
We started our company in 1980.
Our original facility was located in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. We started as a small office with a shared warehouse space.
In 1993, we moved to our current location where we now own and operate an expanded office with multiple warehouses.
We are now located in Berea, Ohio, and have multiple facilities in the state.
Our first president
Richard Gareau
Richard Gareau, a local native of Cleveland, OH and a sibling of 12, started Midwest Transatlantic Lines, Inc. in 1980 with the vision of making Cleveland a strategic hub for cargo moving between Europe and the Midwest. Over Rick’s 41-year career, he led the company from an office of only a few to the largest independent International Freight operation in Cleveland.
Through his tenure, Rick’s many accomplishments allowed him to establish the business as a Licensed Customs Broker, U.S. Customs Bonded CFS, 100,000 square foot warehousing and distribution center, Licensed NVOCC, Airfreight IATA Agent, and TSA Cargo Screening Facility to mention a few. Rick’s greatest industry achievement is the team he built to carry on his legacy beyond his well-deserved retirement in 2021.
